Greasy Food & Hot Dogs – what we do best
Hot Dog Johnny’s
Family owned and operated, John Kovalsky founded Hot Dog Johnny’s in 1944. Hot Dog Johnny’s has been sited by the Travel Channel as being one of the most popular roadside stands across the country. The appeal of Hot Dog Johnny’s isn’t only the tasty hot dogs, but the milkshakes, the fries, the quaint swingset and the famous t-shirts. Make sure you bring your appetite and $10 for a Hot Dog Johnny’s t-shirt. You know you want a shirt that says “Buttzville” on it.

Harold’s New York Deli
Edison
Home to the world’s largest pickle bar, as well as the world’s best corned beef, pastrami, and cheesecake, the renowned Harold’s Deli is a classic New-York-style deli is located at 3050 Woodbridge Avenue in Edison. The atmosphere is friendly, the service is quick, and the food is fantastic. They serve enormous portions of food and beverages for all sizes of people (enormous or otherwise) at very reasonably prices. While waiting for meals to arrive, customers are highly encouraged to enjoy the complimentary Pickle Bar, where you can find any type of pickle you could conceive: dill, sour, kosher, sandwich-size, or relish. If you’re looking for a sandwich with world class lunch meat, that won’t leave you hungry for the rest of the day, Harold’s is the place for you.
Grease Trucks
New Brunswick
At the intersection of College Avenue and Hamilton Street on the Rutgers University campus stand the phenomenon known as Grease Trucks. One of the main cultural hotspots of the campus, the trucks are set up on the edge of a parking lot, open during lunchtime and dinnertime through the early morning hours to serve starving students. The sandwiches are all priced around $5.00, and drinks are $1.00, which is a great bargain for the massive amount of food packed into the buns; it’s no wonder they call their food “fat sandwiches.” We tried Fat Darrell sandwiches, choosing from selections such as Fat Buddha, Fat Cat, and Fat Ho. The Fat Darrell was named the top sandwich in the nation in the August 2004 issue of Maxim Magazine, and the sandwich certainly lived up to its reputation. Inside the sandwich were chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, French fries, and marinara sauce. The Grease Trucks are truly one of the cultural highlights of New Jersey, named number one post game activity by Sports Illustrated on Campus in 2005.
Jimmy Buff’s
The one and only restaurant in NJ for real Italian hot dogs. Hot dogs come with potatoes, onions, and peppers on fresh Italian bread. So greasy, but so worth it.

PJ’s Pancake House
Princeton
One of Princeton’s oldest and best-known establishments, PJ’s Pancake House is without a doubt the best place in town to go for breakfast–any time of the day. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, evidenced by the tables engraved with initials of visitors and the snippets and poetry written on the walls. Don’t forget to ask for whipped cream! The waffles and pancakes are top-notch, and if you are feeling adventurous you can order an orange freeze drink – kind of like a creamsicle milkshake!
